FAQs

  • How is the overall vendor score computed?

Each of 40 criteria is scored 0-5. Criteria roll up to category scores (weighted by criterion importance). Categories roll up to the overall vendor score (weighted by category importance, e.g., Security 18%, Model Quality 18%, Compliance 15%). The category weights reflect what enterprise buyers actually prioritize — you can inspect them and rebalance mentally if your priorities differ.

  • Can I compare multiple vendors?

Yes — up to 4 vendors side-by-side. Scores update in real time. Weakest categories are highlighted per vendor so you can see where each falls short.

  • Are my scores stored anywhere?

No. Everything runs in your browser. Local persistence uses browser localStorage so you can come back later; clear it any time.

  • What do the score bands mean?

Strong fit (≥ 4.2): move to reference calls + technical spike. Viable (3.5–4.19): fit-for-purpose in most areas, investigate weakest category. Marginal (2.5–3.49): only if a specific criterion is a hard differentiator. Poor fit (< 2.5): not recommended unless captive constraints force it.

  • How does this relate to the Compliance Mapper and Governance Checklist?

The Compliance Mapper (/tools/compliance-mapper) helps you understand what a control means across frameworks. The Governance Checklist (/tools/governance-checklist) assesses your own program. This scorecard evaluates outside vendors against 40 criteria you would ask them to prove.
