Generative AI Maturity Framework
The Generative AI Maturity Framework — commonly called the AI Maturity Framework — is a structured model that scores an organization's readiness to adopt, govern, and scale AI. It evaluates six interconnected dimensions on a six-level scale (Aware, Exploring, Operational, Integrated, Autonomous, Transformative), giving leaders a clear picture of where they stand and what to do next.

LLM Evaluation & Assurance
How the framework covers accuracy, coherence, safety, benchmarks, LLM-as-judge, and continuous quality — mapped across Governance & Risk, Data & Infrastructure, and Use Cases & Applications.
The rubric at a glance
Six dimensions of Generative AI maturity, scored on a six-level scale. Each cell summarises what an organisation typically looks like at that point in the journey.
| Dimension | L1Aware | L2Exploring | L3Operational | L4Integrated | L5Autonomous | L6Transformative |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Strategy & Leadership | Interest without commitment | Named sponsor + first budget line | Strategy documented, board-visible | Portfolio-managed, P&L accountable | AI-first operating decisions | AI defines the operating model |
| Data & Infrastructure | Silos, no lineage | Data catalogue in flight | Vector store + embeddings in prod | Feature store, cross-team substrate | Self-serve data + agent tooling | Real-time, multimodal, federated |
| Use Cases & Applications | Individual experiments | Funded pilots with ROI targets | First production deploys, measured | Prioritised portfolio, monitored | Reusable patterns, platform effect | AI-native product surface |
| Talent & Culture | Ad-hoc curiosity | Named AI champions | Role-based training in place | Cross-functional AI fluency | AI-augmented roles by default | Talent magnet in the field |
| Governance & Risk | No AI policy | Policy drafted, informal review | AI RMF/ISO 42001 aligned | EU AI Act tiers mapped, guardrails live | Continuous audit + runtime enforcement | Reference practice, sector-shaping |
| Agentic AI | Chat interfaces only | First tool-use prototypes | MCP-based tool integration in prod | Agent evals as CI gate | Multi-agent orchestration under policy | Autonomous, self-improving workflows |
