How does OAuth work in MCP?
The 2025 MCP spec added OAuth 2.1 with dynamic client registration. An MCP server exposes standard OAuth endpoints; the MCP client registers itself dynamically and completes the OAuth flow per user. This eliminates the need for provider-side API keys and enables user-attributed per-agent authentication.
